4th Annual Violette de Mazia Lecture

See Event Description
Join us for the fourth annual Violette de Mazia lecture: Albert C. Barnes: A Philadelphia Story. Albert Barnes is a true Philadelphia success story—and a man who never forgot his humble beginnings. From growing up in one of the poorest sections of Philadelphia to earning degrees from Central High School and the University of Pennsylvania, he emerged as the world’s premier collector of postimpressionist art. Brian Seymour, PhD, associate professor of art history at the Community College of Philadelphia, will discuss Dr. Barnes’s Philadelphia story and consider how it shaped the collector he became. A one-hour reception will follow the lecture.
